Captain Cook Over-Pole

Rado Captain Cook Over-Pole
MAKE YOUR MARK -- AT EVERY DESTINATION

For the true explorer, restlessness is just a way of life. The quest for discovery is a reflex, as natural and energising as plain breathing. Highly creative people share that drive, watch designers not least among that adventurous type. When Rado decided to reinvent its iconic and highly successful 1962 Over-Pole version of the Captain Cook model in 2022, they placed their R862 Worldtimer manual-winding movement in that new model, a top-shelf calibre with an impressive 80 hours of power reserve, three hands, a date window at three o’clock, and 17 jewels. It was a winning decision, one of those key choices made when a popular model is revisited with the latest features. The well-known “Master of Materials” Rado has regularly updated earlier iconic models with the latest technology, materials and production technics, to great success.

The Over-Pole now makes another triumphant return, in a stunning, new 2025 version that retains all the previous favourite features, like the R862 calibre, housed inside a bolder, larger 39-mm case, for this repeat limited edition, again of just 1962 units. The manual movement has all the charm and exceptional precision of an automatic, but thanks to the absence of a counterweight winder, it can be placed inside a much thinner case. The new Captain Cook Over-Pole is a trim 10.9 mm in height, as sleek as it is handsome, thanks to the movement’s Côtes-de-Genève surface finishing, annealed blue screws and goldcoloured markings, visible through a second sapphire glass in the case back, specially engraved with the sequence number in the edition.

The watch face is as breathtaking as ever. The bidirectional rotatable bezel, in black high-tech ceramic, stands in beautiful contrast to the yellow gold-coloured PVD-finished case and matching crown. Major city names are permanently laser-engraved and lacquered into the high-tech ceramic to mark the various time zones, selected by rotating the bezel. Inside this ring, the signature Captain Cook box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both faces, protects the silver sunray-motif dial, hands and the curved, yellow gold-coloured indexes. Vintage-white Super-LumiNova® with light-green luminescent dots mark the 24-hour time scale, next to contrasting black world time information and matching Rado and Over-Pole logos. The hour and minute hands are unmistakably clear, thanks to additional vintage-white SuperLumiNova® treatment, and the customary Rado moving anchor symbol is beautifully finished in a yellow gold colour, against a ruby background.

To allow for greatest versatility in every explorer’s adventure and multi-faceted lifestyle, the new Over-Pole comes with both a stylish, polished and brushed rice-grain-type yellow gold-coloured PVD-coated stainless-steel bracelet with a triple-fold clasp, and a rugged, sporty, brown vintage-style leather strap with a polished yellow gold-coloured pin buckle. A practical leather pouch is included to store the watch and spare bracelet, along with an official limited edition certificate.

Travel wide, dream big, coordinate your international team of explorers to new summits. The new Captain Cook Over-Pole is your reliable ally. The latest iteration of the model is the natural evolution of this true explorer’s essential, a stepping stone to undeniable present-day excellence.
