Captain Cook x Cameron Norrie Limited Edition
A celebration of tennis and one of its brightest stars
Cameron Norrie has been thrilling tennis fans in the United Kingdom and around the world with his competitive, aggressive style of play and with his perseverance, determination, and self-belief. He joined the Rado YoungStars team in 2021, but quickly eclipsed that status, breaking into the top ten in the ATP rankings in 2022. He consistently numbers among the world’s 15 best. Now, Rado has announced the launch of its Captain Cook x Cameron Norrie Limited Edition watch, created in partnership with one of tennis’s most compelling stars.
Cameron worked with the Rado team on the creation of the new watch and says, “I’m honoured to release my first limited edition watch with Rado. It’s been exciting collaborating on the design, and announcing the timepiece during the grass court season in the United Kingdom brings it all together. It’s certainly perfect timing.”
Perfect timing indeed! The Captain Cook x Cameron Norrie Limited Edition offers fans a chance to wear a special model of a Rado icon designed in close collaboration with one of tennis’s most dynamic players.
The Captain Cook x Cameron Norrie Limited Edition features a 42mm polished stainless steel case and crown and a polished stainless steel rotating bezel with a polished green high-tech ceramic bezel insert with engraved numbers and markers in matt white Super-LumiNova®.
The colour of the bezel insert is perfectly complemented by the green to white gradient dial on display through the box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. Rado’s familiar moving anchor symbol is tastefully located on a purple backplate between the 12 o’clock position and the centre of the dial. The grey central hour and minute hands are coated with white Super-LumiNova® and the tip of the central seconds hand is coated in yellow Super-LumiNova®, a playful nod to the colour of tennis balls. The sport is also subtly referenced by a green flange with yellow Super-LumiNova® dots at the 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock, 8 o’clock and 12 o’clock positions, corresponding neatly to tennis’s unique “15/30/40/game” scoring convention.
It is presented on a polished and brushed stainless steel bracelet with a titanium three-fold clasp and Rado’s innovative EasyClip system. A pair of strap options is available including a classic black leather strap with a stainless steel extendable folding clasp or a green and white NATO-style textile strap. The polished screw down stainless steel caseback has a tinted sapphire crystal that features Cameron Norrie’s silver-coloured signature. Engraved on the caseback are the words LIMITED EDITION, ONE OUT OF 823, a reference to the limited-edition series size, which was chosen to reflect the tennis star’s birthday, August 23rd.
Powering the Rado Captain Cook x Cameron Norrie Limited Edition is a Rado calibre R763, an automatic movement that has been adjusted in five positions. It is equipped with a Nivachron™ balance spring, which makes the watch particularly resistant to the magnetic fields that are increasingly a part of our daily lives. This striking timepiece, which has an impressive 80-hour power reserve, is water resistant to 30 bar (300 metres). The watch is delivered with a green leather pouch highlighted by Cameron’s signature, along with a Limited Edition Certificate.
Advantage, Rado: A passion for a game that reflects our values
Rado has been actively involved in the world of tennis since 1985. It installed its first corner clocks at the Swiss Open in Gstaad and has been one of the sport’s leading timekeepers ever since. To this day, partnerships with tennis tournaments around the world remain an important part of Rado’s brand identity.
And with its YoungStar programme, Rado has partnered with promising tennis talents, accompanying them in their pursuit of perfection and their demonstration of endurance, strength of character, and dynamism – the values that define Rado. The Swiss watch brand’s CEO, Adrian Bosshard, himself a passionate tennis fan and former professional athlete, says, "Tennis is the sporting expression of the very things that define Rado: relentless determination and our unbreakable will to test our limits again and again. And Cameron perfectly represents this attitude. He is driven to deliver an inspired performance in every match, on every surface, against every competitor.”
