Ash Barty is the Master of her own Material!

From three grand slams to the joys of motherhood: Ash Barty reflects on her remarkable life in Rado’s Master of My Own Material campaign
When Ash Barty became a Rado Brand Ambassador, she was a talented young tennis player with a focus and determination that brought edge-of-the-seat excitement to every match. In time, she was ranked number one in the world, a position she held for 114 consecutive weeks before announcing her retirement from the game in March of 2022. Ash’s extraordinary natural attributes – her skill, her quiet confidence, and her authenticity – underpinned a history-making career for the Australian superstar. And they resonated with Rado, whose timepieces are defined by complementary characteristics: reliability, accuracy, and a relentless commitment to innovation.

Thanks to her personal passion, her drive, and her flair, Ash remains an inspiration around the world, and Rado is proud that she remains a Brand Ambassador and an important part of the family.

Ash Barty has recently been featured in Rado’s “Master of my own material” campaign, a video series that includes some of the Swiss watch brand’s most celebrated ambassadors and tennis stars. In her video, Ash talks about her life after tennis, including the thrill of helping young tennis players through the Ash Barty Foundation, as well as what she describes as “absolutely the best and the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done”: motherhood.

She also recalls her long-time partnership with the Rado family and remembers the first time she owned one of the brand’s watches. “I fell in love with Rado timepieces when I was quite young and bought myself my first Centrix as a reward after winning a tournament. It felt elegant and precise, and I still love to wear it now. It brings back happy memories of all my hard work leading up to winning a tournament and being able to reward myself with something I’d always wanted. From there, our relationship has just grown.” It’s fitting that Ash Barty’s Rado journey started with a Centrix. Almost as eye-catching as the Australian superstar is the Rado Centrix Automatic wristwatch she wears in the video. It has a polished rose gold-coloured PVD-coated stainless steel case and a lacquered silver facetted dial with an opulent 3D effect. Adding to the sparkle are 12 Top Wesselton full-cut diamond hour markers.

The dial is also highlighted by Rado’s rose gold-coloured laser-enhanced moving anchor logo along with the words “Rado Automatic” printed in grey. The rose gold-coloured central hour, minute, and seconds hands create a brilliant contrast to the dial. The watch is presented on a polished rose gold-coloured PVD-coated stainless steel bracelet with white high-tech ceramic middle links – a touch that is pure Rado.

The beating heart inside the case is a Rado calibre R763 fitted with an antimagnetic NivachronTM balance spring. It is displayed proudly through the sapphire crystal in the polished stainless steel case back. This outstanding automatic movement has been adjusted for accuracy in five different positions. It offers an 80-hour power reserve, and the watch is water resistant to 5 bar / 50 metres.

Rado is excited about Ash Barty’s contribution to its new campaign. She may no longer be playing in the world’s top tennis events that she dominated so convincingly, but she is – as she has always been – an inspiration and a role model who has done things on her terms. She is clearly a master of her own material.
